7 LinkedIn Tips to boost sales
1.Have a professional photo
Make the most of yourself, and pay attention to the imagery of your LinkedIn photo. Be genuine don’t over edit, when you meet off line your face will already be familiar, which enhances good relationships. If you don’t have a photo it is a good idea to have one, and it is beneficial to a relationship to be able to visualise the person you are socialising with.

2. Create a compelling headline
The key questions you need to ask yourself are: What value and benefit am I to others? What have I got to offer? You have 120 characters to let others know what you do. Don’t for example simply put you are the Managing Director of a company, this is your value proposition, breakdown what you do, make a list of your skills and how you help people. Or be like Karl Lehmann and ask some thought provoking questions. Whilst Karl is one of the top qualified financial advisers in the UK, he prefers to focus on the value he offers to others.
3. Personalize your URL
On your profile page make sure that your URL links to the keywords people may search for. On Lesley Knight’s page her URL is
This means anyone searching this area may find her whilst searching on Google under charity speaker, added to the fact she has now moved away from the default URL which is just a pre programmed algorithm with your name and some numbers.
4. Check your privacy settings
Make sure that you have the correct privacy settings and that your personal information can only be viewed by those who you want to view it. You don’t want other companies to search through your contacts.
5. Recommendations
How many of your clients would recommend you? Use the power of LinkedIn recommendations to build up your credibility.
6. Managing contacts
It is very easy to lose track of who you have contacted, their details and when your next contact will be, therefore it is beneficial to download your LinkedIn contacts onto a CSV file, these can then be uploaded to a content management system, such as Infusion Soft, Nimble or Salesforce or one of the many others on the market.
7. Add Video Content
It’s now very easy to add video content to LinkedIn for areas such as Vimeo or YouTube. There is lots of compelling statistics now that show many people would far rather watch a 90 second video about what you do, so why not create this content and upload it to your LinkedIn profile.
